Volleyball
Volleyball is a big part of my identity. Though it sounds dumb, it has shaped my life in many ways I would have never thought it would do. I started volleyball in 6th grade and hated it. I used to dread going to practice and thought I sucked. I felt like I was too old to start a new sport. This was until I entered high school. I tried out for the team and got on jv but i still got to experience the feeling of a real team and real coach that supported me always. I started to really enjoy it, looking forward to after school practice. Sophomore year rolled around and I tried out again for volleyball and had gotten on varsity. Being on this team made me meet my best friends and feel like I belonged there. Going to practice everyday was the highlight of the fall. I tried out for a more high key travel team and got on and met more people I would just get closer with. I started to care so deeply about the sport and it was the only thing I wanted to do. Getting to travel to places to play felt like a dream. Now being a junior, I am holding on to the junior captain position of the highschool volleyball team. I got on an even higher level of travel team and have never loved a sport so much.
