Village Life

Recently over winter break I traveled to Pakistan, where my parents and family are from. Although I have visited Pakistan numerous times before, this time was different and new because it was the first time I went to my grandparent’s village where my father grew up for most of his childhood. This is a picture where years ago my grandfather would wake up to go early in the mornings before dawn to manually work the land. It was especially impactful to see where my roots came from and how far immigration could lead not only a single person but a whole family. If my father had not emigrated to New York City in the 1990’s for a better life, maybe he too would have been growing crops in that small village in Pakistan.
