Vappu Munkki
My artifact is a Munkki recipe from Finland. There is a holiday that we celebrate called Vappu. On Vappu we eat Munkki and drink a drink called, Sima. This recipe reminds me of Finland because I know that I will have a piece of Finland inside of me. What other kids can learn about my object is Munkki is eaten during Vappu. Vappu is on a May day in Finland. Vappu is one of the biggest carnival-style festival held in the streets of towns and cities. The celebration begins on the evening of April 30th, and continues through May 1st. Some people wonder what Munkki tastes like and looks like. Munkki tastes just like a crispy doughnut with a sweet glaze topping. In Finland people can make two types of Munkki. The doughnut shaped Munkki and a puff shaped Munkki. The puffed shaped ones are lighter than the doughnut shaped ones. Since they’re darker depending on what temperature they're cooked at.
