The object presented in the photo on the right are tobacco stick. Tobacco sticks have a special story from my mom's side, due to all the farmers and agricultural workers who were on my mom’s side of my family. Tobacco sticks are designed sticks of processed tobacco intended for use with heated tobacco devices. These devices heat the tobacco stick to a lower temperature than a traditional cigarette, producing a nicotine-containing aerosol without burning the tobacco. This process aims to reduce the harmful byproducts associated with burning tobacco, but it's important to note that these products are not risk-free. Tobacco sticks show what it means to be an american all throughout the history of the country. In present times, some people use tobacco products in their everyday lives. Towards the beginning of America, tobacco was a humongous cash crop in the South. These tobacco sticks were used by my great-grandmother and have been passed down even to my mom’s generation. Traditionally, these were wooden sticks, often hand-hewn from saplings or split trees, used to hang tobacco leaves for drying and curing in barns. This practice was a common sight in tobacco-growing regions of the United States until about the 1980s. Now in the modern days, these devices heat, rather than burn, the tobacco, creating a nicotine-containing aerosol for the user to inhale.
