The Ring from Lebanon
Around 1931, my Great-Grandmother migrated from Lebanon, Asia to Ohio, U.S.A. at about the age of 30. On this trip, she brought many things. One of the most important things was her ring, it had a gorgeous gold band with a dazzling design. Not to mention, the breathtaking blue sapphire it holds is to die for!
My family doesn’t have many heirlooms so this ring is important to me. I own one family heirloom myself, but I’m not connected to it like this one. This ring came from a different country and it holds the story of how I got here today. To me, this ring is the representation of what her life was, a little rusted, old, not always used or valued, but it’s forever beautiful. This ring was a piece of my grandmother, and sadly it’s the only piece of her I know, but I’m proud to know it.
