My object is a pipa; it’s from the Dominican Republic.  It’s made of dark wood and it can also be made of clay or metal.  The pipa is used to smoke.  It’s important to me because it reminds me of my grandmother.  My mother kept it in the home and told stories to the family about her mother’s life.  Every night my grandmother smoked her pipa.  My mother kept a picture of my grandmother smoking her pipa.  In my country, only elderly people use it, because it is a very ancient artifact .
