The Marvelous Medals
My object is a case of medals. These medals are a gorgeous silver color. Each medal is a small round circle connected to a piece of fabric. There are two medals. One has a white, blue, and red piece of fabric with 3 sets of 2 even stripes. The other medal has a green, orange, and black piece of fabric with one big stripe and two sets of smaller ones. There is also a small old black and white photo of my great-great grandfather along with two tokens that do not relate to the medals. These medals used to belong to my Granny’s grandfather (my great-great grandfather) whose name was Frederick Evered. He was born in 1867. He was awarded these medals when he was a volunteer in World War I. He could not join the army was because he was too short. These medals are really important to me because they make me full of pride. I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to watch battle after battle rage while you just try to stay safe. I am so proud of how my great-great grandfather handled it all. One of my goals in life is to become more brave and I hope someday I can be just as brave as he was.
