The Holy Quran is the Book of God, revealed to guide humanity. The specific copy I am discussing features a deep red (maroon) cover with gold ornamentation; my family brought it with them from Yemen to the United States when we moved here in2022 We use this holy book during our five daily prayers, and it holds special significance every Friday, when we recite Surah Al-Kahf to seek blessings. Each time I use this Quran, I am filled with a profound sense of peace and tranquility that strengthens my faith. This object holds great significance as it reflects my religious and linguistic identity as an Arabic-speaking Muslim. Both this Quran and my personal story connect me to the community of New York City; like so many others, I belong to the immigrant community. The Constitution guarantees rights for all, and this story demonstrates that New York City respects Muslims and religious freedom.
