The Good Housekeeping Cookbook

Group:

A Taste of Home Imagine all the food that you grew up on and all the food you love the most filed into one giant, chaotic masterpiece where you can turn to any page and be filled with memories of family dinners and feasts of the past. This book, The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook, has been passed down from my great-grandmother, to my grandmother, and lastly to my mom. Even though my great-grandmother passed away before I was born, I was able to experience my great-grandmother’s recipes through the cooking of my mom and grandma.  Consequently, this book has had a big impact on my family history, tradition, and values. Some may say that these recipes found in the book are not original, but they very much are.  In these pages one can find the original recipes of all my aunts, cousins, and anyone in my family who came before. For example, some of my favorite recipes are found on scrap papers found in this book. From my great-grandmother’s gravy, to my mom’s crumb cake, to my grandma’s apple crisp; each page is filled with different seasonal flavors and food that many love. As a result of these seasonal dishes, each holiday is so special with these home cooked foods. For instance I can enjoy apple crisp during Thanksgiving. Similarly, I get to enjoy my family’s assortment of holiday cookies during the Christmas season. I enjoy my food greatly and these family recipes make it even more special to me to have.  #jSarich2018
