My grandpa, Fereydoun Hoveyda, immigrated from Tyran, Iran to N.Y.C.,U.S.A with my mom Mandana and my grandma Gisela. They immigrated because my grandpa had work for the U.N. My grandpa spoke Iranian and German. He used books like this one to learn English. Every night before bed, he would read these books and he would underline the phrases he didn’t understand and he would learn the use of them. That helped him learn English.
Whenever my grandpa was at his desk making a collage, there would always be a cat on his desk. My grandpa loved cats. He would do everything in the house with cats. When he saw this book, the thought “Oh! Let’s get it!” because he saw it had a cat on the cover. I feel connected to him because he loved cats and I love cats and cats are the best things that happened to this planet.
