This item is the cover that once carried my grandfather's certificate of 25 years of teaching in a high school in Beijing, China. During the height of the Cultural Revolution, people in the teaching profession were highly discouraged and were treated with torture, murder, but mostly public humiliation by their own students. My grandfather escaped back to his hometown in Guangzhou and together with my grandmother and my father, fled to Hong Kong. More than 25 years later, the whole family (including me at this point) immigrated to the United States.
