My object is a tea/coffee cup from the actual ship that brought my nonna (Italian word for grandmother) to America through Ellis Island from Lipari, Italy in 1920. The cup is simple-mostly white with two solid, thin green stripes that are approximately an inch apart and it is almost one hundred years old. I imagine my nonna used to drink tea or coffee from it everyday while on board the ship. I miss my grandmother terribly but I am grateful that I have discovered this cup and its story.
