Making Tamales

This is a picture of me making tamales with my abuela. We make homemade tamales every Christmas. First you layout the plantain leaves, then you add the masa and then meat, veggies and rice. We wrap them around inside the leaves and seal them in tinfoil. We then eat the tamales throughout the holiday by boiling them in water.

This is special to me because they are delicious and I learned it from my Tata. I like the tradition of doing it every year, and it’s food from Costa Rica where some of my family is from.
