Switchblade
When my dad was 10 years old, his parents took him to Mexico. He had grown up watching “West Side Story,” and because of the rumble scene, he wanted a switchblade. On the trip, he found a vender selling switchblades for $5, but his mother wouldn’t let him buy one. 20 years later, in 1992, my dad returned to Mexico with my mom. He found the same switchblade from when he was 10, and since he had regretted not buying it for all these years, he decided to buy it, which was then for $10. Over the next 25 years, he collected weapons from all the places to pass down to me and my siblings. He has taken my family all around the world to places such as Australia, Japan, and France in order to allow us to experience other cultures. We have weapons from those places and more to remind us of those cultures.
