Sticky Note Doodles
In my sophomore year of high school, my best friend and I took a Latin class together. It wasn’t a hard class, and the teacher let us work together so we often got our work done fast. Since we weren’t allowed phones, her and I were often bored. She always drew on her work and in her notebook, so I figured I’d give her something smaller to draw on. I gave her my stack of purple sticky notes, purple only because it was a color we both liked to draw on. She took them and drew a character from her favorite video game at the time. It was a silly sort of style. That’s usually how she drew. She gave me back the sticky note and I stuck it in my Latin notebook. We still had more time in class, so she began drawing other characters from the game, each getting their own note. She would often put little phrases relating to the characters or what they were doing. We’d always laugh about it too, between her art style and the things they were doing. I put all those notes into my Latin book throughout the year as we had a lot of free time. The doodles she drew were fun and because of how much she talked about the game they were based on and how often she drew it, she got me into it as well. It brought us closer together as friends, creating inside jokes which found their way onto other sticky notes that were unrelated. She drew a lot of things, including these cute sort of animals. They were meant to be funny and stupid looking. I keep them on my desk to look at them and laugh about it.
