St. Vincent and the Grenadines Flag

On February 15, 1999 my mother immigrated from St. Vincent and the Grenadines to live with her mother who already immigrated in previous years without her. This was due to my great great grandmother getting older in age to the point she was no longer capable to taking care of my mother any longer as she needed care herself. This left my mother who was 12 at the time to travel on a plane alone to New York to begin a new life. She states that it wasn't difficult for her as she accepted the decision that she had to leave in order to no longer be a weight on her great grandmother and allow her to rest. Once she arrived in New York she was met with open arms and enrolled into school helping to promote a smooth transition into a new lifestyle. I attached an image of the St.Vincent flag as my mother no longer has any item from St. Vincent. However, our flag means a lot to her as well as myself, it represents not only our independence as a country but also a reminder or where my mother began her life and what she had to leave behind in order to have a better life for her children as well as other distant family.
