Spaghetti recipe
My story is a family recipe for spaghetti and meatballs. The Keane family was originally from Ireland, but immigrated to New York during the 1800s. My grandpa and his 9 siblings lived in a neighborhood with many Italians in it. His mother learned to make it from the neighbors, and it wasn’t written down for a long time. It was my grandpa’s favorite food to eat when he was growing up. My aunt watched my great grandma make the spaghetti and meatballs and wrote down the measurements, which is how there is a recipe now. The recipe stayed in the family all this time and now I help my parents make it every year at Christmas. We always look forward to rolling the meatballs and cooking them all day in the sauce.
The spaghetti makes me happy when we make it, because I think about how my ancestors created it and loved eating it just like me.
