Gold Jewelry Set from Pakistan

This is a jewelry set from my family's country of origin, Pakistan. Traditional jewelry has always been a meaningful part of my South Asian identity. I have grown up seeing my mother, grandmother, and other family members parade around in large, delicately crafted jewelry with intricate patterns, an almost regal air about them. My mother emigrated from Pakistan in 1986, I was born here. Growing up in America I don't always feel connected to my Pakistani heritage, but whenever I get the chance to “model” one of my mothers traditional jewelry sets from her time in Pakistan, I feel transformed. This piece is meaningful to me because it reminds me of who I am and where I come from, while no one in my family knows exactly how old it is, it is special nonetheless.
