My object is a recipe for “Sopes Recipe”. It’s a recipe that’s from Mexico that my relatives used for a long time. It’s a special recipe that my Great Grandma makes on special holidays. I chose this object because it reminds me of my Grandma. She comes to visit the family and helps us cook our favorite foods.I also chose this object because it’s a family tradition to use this recipe on special holidays. I make it every year, especially for Cinco de Mayo. This recipe is really old because it was used by my Great grandma. Then given to my grandma, and my mom.My recipe was used to make sopes. Sopes are thick Mexican circles of dough. They are small and the dough is kneaded by hand. It has a pocket that you can use to stuff it with ground meat, lettuce, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and “pico de gallo” (a spicy mixture of cilantro, jalapeno, and parsley). The recipe became popular in my mom’s hometown in early 1900s. At first, my grandma’s neighbors began making this recipe. Soon it became popular among the others who lived in and around the town. Soon my grandma found out about this recipe and that’s how we began to make the dish in our home. Ingredients :1 kilogram of “Maseca” 1 cup of watera pinch of saltMix altogetherMake flat circles and cook until hotCut Halfway and take out the stuffingCook ground meat and place in the circlePut lettuce, tomatoes and“pico de gallo”in the pocket too
