When people think that having a sport as something you cherish in terms of culture and heritage they often see it as not realistic but to me, it means a lot more because my dad and uncles played soccer since they were young and still love the game to this day. One of my uncles taught me how to play at the age of 9 or 10 and I believe he’s the reason why I love and cherish it. Seeing him playing the game so smartly and decisively, I learned a lot from him just by watching him play as I was too young to play with his age group.Another one of my uncles used to play for Renton High School in 2018, the medals and trophies he has in his room are what motivate me to break his records or accomplish more than he did, which makes me cherish it even more.The item I chose is a soccer jersey, but not just any jersey, The Jersey I chose represents where me and my people come from which is SOMALIA. I believe that certain things bring my people together like religion and Soccer, The reason I chose this item was that it not just represents where I come from but what I loved to do and be a part of since I was little. Back in Somalia, I remember staring at the clock everyday minute before school ended looking forward to playing soccer with my friends till dusk
