This is a small statue of the Virgin Mary that belongs to my mother. This statue represents their struggle because when they were crossing over from Mexico, she told me that her and my grandparents would pray with it. It was like a sign of hope that they would stay safe and that God would protect them on their journey. For me, it is also very important as well. I used to pray to it a lot when I was younger and felt sad or angry. My mom told me that it was like talking to God, so I'd use it to pray to God almost every night. I believe it contributed to my life greatly, and make me the hopeful person that I am today.
