Drawing of my skates.

My skates are important to me because of all the fun time I've had while using them and the memories that I've made spending time with my friends and family, and enjoying time playing hockey. They are a part of my life in the winter and part of being in Minnesota for me.  A detail I remember is tying my skates with numb fingers, chatting with my friends.
Whether it was perfect ice or a sheet that felt like you were skating on rocks,  we were able to spend and enjoy time together and have fun while skating, or a game of pond hockey, enjoying some friendly competition with others. When the air is cold and the wind hits my face, and the ice is smooth it feels like I'm gliding.  And the time afterwards is so great, feelong like an icicle but going inside to enjoy the warmth and have hot coco.
Most of my family skated when they were kids, and they taught me to skate, along with my brother. It wasn't a big tradition but it was a nice experience we all shared. When I learned to play hockey it made my skates even more meaningful to me. With my teammates, we celebrated wins and handled losses together, we shared jokes, smiles and comments, and we bonded as a team. Christmas time is when I have the most good memories from skating. Spending hours playing pond hockey with my cousins and my brother, along with strangers and friends.
