This Singer Featherweight has been in my family for over 50 years. My grandmother held onto it until she died and then passed it on to my mom. So in love with this machine and the smoothness of the stitching, she bought my mom a new machine and held on to this old one. My mom used to tell me how Grammy would sew her dresses for her dances in high school and I’m certain this sewing machine has made a few of them. This connection to the past with Grammy and the sewing machine makes me happy and a bit sad because I know she would’ve been thrilled to teach me how to use all of complicated accompaniments and become a better sewer.
