My shot put, a cold heavy metal ball, 12bls. I first held a shot in 7th grade, it was my first track season. I have done track and field for 3 going on four years now. SHot put has been an integral part of my school year for a long time in my life now. I want to talk about my highs and lows with a short put. This last track season was phenomenal. I was setting new prs every meet and was doing great. The time for the conference meet had come around, and I had been expecting to do okay, maybe come top 5 to top 10, but when I went up to throw I set a massive PR and came in second place. That was the first time I had ever gotten a medal in track, it was the most accomplished I have ever felt in a sport before. It reminded me why I love the sport so much, but with ups and downs coming in second, a conference had qualified me for sections. I was the only freshman there. The night before I injured my wrist and I knew that I wasn't going to do good. Wasn’t doing good was an understatement, I scratched every throw. I had done the worst possible in the biggest meet of the season. Throwing has been with me threw bad time and god times, but with all of that I'm still excited for next season and the next. Even something you love can suck at times. That's why having dedication is the most important thing for learning new things.
