"Mont Hor Khar"
Every year during Christmas and New Years, we will make a lot of food and gather our families to celebrate and help out one another. The main dish is “ Mont Hor Khar'' Karenni fish noodles soup. Families and friends will gather around and help to prepare food. We need a lot of ingredients for the soup but it’s mostly food with Pe Kyaw. Pe kyaw is kind of a cracker that you fried.It tastes really good, I never made it in my whole life but I always watch my mom and my aunts make it whenever it comes time to celebrate. There are a lot of steps to make the noodles and it takes a lot of time.Basically, you boil the fish soup first, and then you also boil the noodles but in a separate pot After that you cut some vegetables and slice some garlic and onions, and then you fry the pe kyaw. Lastly you just mix everything together. Mont Hor Khar is a really famous food back in Thailand and Burma. It's common for people to eat for breakfast or lunch. They can eat it anytime they want. Many people sell it at the market. But it is mostly seen during Christmas or New Years, some people eat it all the time . For me my family and relatives have been eating this dish all of our life. We have continued to make this dish often ever since we came to America.
