Many leagues and sports facilities in the Asian, Latinx and African American communities provided a space for athletes who were routinely excluded from White-only facilities. Long before Amy Yee and many Asian Americans of her generation became the first to break the color barriers at local exclusive tennis clubs, the Seattle Chinese Tennis Club played at the tennis courts on Beacon Hill and held tournaments between Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia.  Back row: Howard King, Al Mar, George King, Gay Chinn, Richard Lew Kay, Frank Mar. Front row: Dr. Young B. Lee, Yuen (Shakey) Chinn, Hing Chinn, Fay Chong.
