My mom grew up in Sri Lanka. When she was 5, her family moved to Britain. She lived there until the age of 18, when she moved back to Sri Lanka. She had to put her college education on hold for a couple years due to money but she got a job and went to school. When she moved to the US she went to graduate school at Columbia University and got her masters in foods and nutrition. she currently works for Columbia research in the department of radiology. My dad grew up in Sri Lanka his whole life. When he moved here, he attended community and then state college to earn his bachelors in Civil engineering. He is now the partner at a engineering firm in Hackensack (O&S Associates).
My parents had known each other since they were young, because their moms were friends. When my mom moved back to Sri Lanka, they fell in love and got married. They moved to the US to start a new life and had me three years later. I was born in NYC and raised in North Bergen county. I am now going to college majoring in Biomedical Engineering, a mix of both my parents professions.
