Traveling is more than just seeing new locations, it’s about the new perspectives that you gain along the way. This necklace previously belonged to my grandma. She would wear this every day because she loves travel. My grandma came from Germany and a long time ago decided to come to America to live. She did this because she believed it would be the best place for her kids. When she gave me this necklace and told me what it meant to her, I understood that this necklace meant more than just a piece of jewelry to her. There is a story or lesson that lies in this necklace. To my understanding this necklace to her meant being able to travel around the world and learn about the different cultures. As well as coming to America with her kids because she believed it would overall be better for them. When I received this necklace, I was able to relate to her story in a way. I am originally from Delaware and when deciding on a school, I chose Coastal because I knew that this is the place would overall be better for myself. Therefore, I believe that I took the lesson my grandma placed on the necklace and presented it with my own experiences. Overall, I think that this necklace holds a lot of meaning to my grandmother and I through our experiences with traveling. Furthermore, I hope to travel more in the future and learn more about the different cultures around the world. Then, once I have kids, I hope to pass down the lesson that is embedded into this necklace to them.
