Salvadorian Empanadas de Leche
Empanadas are my favorite Salvadorian dessert. They are made from Plantains and the filling is sweetened condensed milk. I know about this food because my dad is from El Salvador and would often eat this food there. I only tried them in the United States since I have never been to El Salvador. Salvadorian foods including this one is very important to me because it reminds me of our origin. For my family, it reminds them of home and it is very sentimental because they cannot go back home. These foods are critical to our lives and will forever keep our ethnicity and identity alive. Without these foods we would lose a huge part of our culture. So, we will keep these foods apart of our meals because it is who were are.
