Roti and Curry
Your not Guyanese unless you've had roti & curry. I was born in Antigua to Guyanese parents where we lived for nine years. When I was nine, my mom, sister, and I moved to Guyana where we lived for one year. While living there, I became consumed with my family's culture. I have African, Indian and Portuguese ancestry and since Guyana has a huge Indian population, we've adapted to some of cultures including a variety of foods and holidays. Roti and curry is one of the most well known dishes in Guyana and other Caribbean countries. It is eaten throughout the year. I chose this as my story because the dish is a huge part of my family and it is also one of my favorite foods.
