Family Ring

This is not just a ring, it's an important, traditional, cultural, and religious item in my family that’s been passed down through generations and has now been passed down to my family to remind us of our country and the people we love there.

My grandma gave my older sister her rosary ring when she turned 13. It’s a beautiful old ring from Ukraine with a prayer inscribed in Ukraine, asking God to protect us. My grandma sisters each have one too, from their mom, my great-grandmother. My second, oldest sister got hers from my grandma's second sister. Soon it’ll be my turn-- I'll get mine from my grandma’s third sister! My youngest sister will have to wait a few years. The ring has been in our family for over 60 years and it’s so special-- a beautiful connection to our family, our faith, and our Ukrainian heritage. When I’m older, I’ll pass it on just like my grandma and her sisters did.
