Dads rosary from India

My object is a rosary. My dad grew up in India and that’s where this rosary originated from. A rosary is used for help praying. It helps you count your prayer and what to say. There are over 50 beads each for a different prayer or intention. My grandpa had it and gave it to my dad and since that day he always wears it around his neck. We know this is old but we don’t know how old. My family is Catholic and since we are an Indian family, that’s rare because most of the population in India is Hindu. Only about 2% of Indians are Catholic and the rosary is a symbol of how far we’ve come and how our religion has helped us throughout the years. Both my parents are Indian immigrants from different parts of India, but they are both Catholics and they’ve passed it on to their kids, my siblings and I. This relates to our immigration story because it’s one of the only things our family has that is from India that we still have and put in use today.
