Rice

Rice. It's served at every meal. It's a staple that was inexpensive and traveled well without refrigeration. As I researched this paper I looked at many family photos. There was a bowl of rice In just about every celebratory photo. Although we do discuss food and the menu of food to come at family gathering, rice is never a topic. It's a must. And to have an event without rice, well, it wouldn't be an event. I've come to understand that meals were not just ways to nourish our bodies. It was a time to reflect on the day, the week, etc. It was the time where the family reunited and discussed events, upcoming important dates and even planned for the future. Food naturally played a huge roll in this conversation.
