Remington 870 Wingmaster
My object is a Remington 870 Wingmaster, passed down to my grandfather from his father. Then to my father from my grandfather, then eventually to me. My grandfather gifted this shotgun to my great grandfather sometime in the 1970’s. When my great grandfather passed away in 1998 it was passed down to my grandfather. My grandfather then went on to use it for many years. When my father was old enough, PawPaw gave it to him so he could hunt with it. In a similar situation my father then decided the shotgun would go to me so I could hunt with it. The gun is an old brown and tarnished silver color. The texture of the wood is smooth and polished, while the barrel is worn, chipped and discolored. The stock is made from American Walnut wood, and the barrel from steel with a polished blue finish. My earliest memories are sitting in a blind with my PawPaw in the freezing cold. Something about sitting with your favorite person in a blind makes you immune to the outside elements. When something like the 870 gets passed down for generations, and you are the lucky person to keep it going. You should make sure you honor the item that has been passed to you. There is a reason the object is still being passed down.
