My object is a copy of the Quran (ko-ran) which is a religious/holy prayer book. My family came from Pakistan to the United States and brought this with them to America in 2006. My artifact is from Pakistan. It is used everyday, it is read when you finish praying each time in the day. You can read as much as you need, but my parents say to read more than two pages. The Quran is a big book written in Arabic. It always has more than 900 pages. The cover has the word Quran written on it in the Urdu language. Urdu is the official language of Pakistan. They are many different copies of the Quran out there. We read the book in a different way. We read it right to left not the other way because that's how God wrote it. It is important to me and my family because it represents how our culture and how we have things for our religion and how we thank God. It is also important because whenever we read it we say our words to God (Allah) and once we are done we ask for: peace, protection, and good things in life. Sometimes it can be like praying, but you read instead.
