My family is proudly puerto rican. Even though my family has been in America since the 1930's our culture has not been forgotten. One important thing to my families culture is the food, which is something that brings us all together. My favorite dish is one that is only made for special occasions - pernil! My family, like many others, make this dish for christmas, thanksgiving, family gatherings, etc. Any big special occasion this dish will be present. My late grandmother would make this every holiday, and every time she made it with love. Even when there was disagreements, fights, or arguments we could all bond and enjoy a meal filled with care. While she isn't here with us now her memory lives on, and we will pass on her recipes to future generations.
