Puerto Rican flag

Group:

My grandmother came to America in the 1960’s after moving from Puerto Rico with her mom. Along with her she brought a Puerto Rican flag which represents who we are and where we came from, so it’s always remained special because it symbolizes that. When we look at the flag we are able to visualize exactly who we are, I personally think of how rough times were from my grandmother back then and I remember if her and her mom (my great grandmother) didn’t make the decision to come over to America for better opportunities then I wouldn’t be here myself so of course I’m always extremely thankful for that. The flag represents our roots tracing our family back it makes me also think about my ancestors and what was life like for them back in Puerto Rico it always makes me wonder. I’m very proud to be Puerto Rican and I’m also grateful to be in a country such as America with many opportunities to succeed but at the same time I could never forget where my families roots came from and the whole reason why I’m even here in the first place. Even though it’s only a flag it symbolizes way more than that and means a lot more than that to me, it’s a symbol of my culture and I could never forget that.
