prayer room
My parents emigrated from India. My family is a part of the Hindu religion. Praying or worship is an important part of Hinduism. If you’re Hindu, it is likely you have a prayer room in the house and use it every day. This room consists of many different statues and pictures of Gods we pray to since there are many. This is also a place we can meet in cultural events and do our rituals of worship to one or more deities at least once a day. On special occasions such as Diwali, a celebration of light, my family and I do special prayers together. It is used for worship, as it is also used for meditation and yoga to calm ourselves at times. On some days, in addition to praying, we also don't eat certain foods as a part of worship. We pray to these Gods because it is believed that the Gods give us strength, intelligence, or luck when we give worship to them. This tradition started since Hinduism was founded, but some believe it is timeless and has always existed. This belief in Hinduism was founded in India.
