A prayer mat is a piece of fabric used by Muslims to pray the five prayers. My prayer mat is very important to me because that was the last thing my mom gave me before I came to the United Stated all alone, as an exchange student to Rochester, New York. It reflects my religion. Whenever I feel homesick because I am away from my family, friends, and home, I go pray with it because it means a lot to me and it helps to heal my sickness. We also use it as Muslims to pray on occasion, so overall it means a lot to me and helps me to go through hard times here.
