Ponche
Ponche is a Mexican drink we drink during the holidays with family and friends. That drink reminds me of my family when we all used to come together and open christmas gifts. Ponche is a traditional drink we always make when christmas comes around. My grandma has always made that recipe since i was a child and it's now part of our culture. The drink is a warm and comforting fruit punch. It's made with apples, pears, sugar cane, cinnamon, guavas and water. Most of the time that drink is made every time Posadas come around. Posadas is a mexican religious festival where we celebrate the journey that Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to the baby Jesus. Everyone celebrated this with the whole community and went around the neighbors house singing '' Os Pido Posada". After they sang we always went outside and ate dinner with Ponche. Kids would be playing around hitting the pinatas and playing with fireworks while they are drinking that warm ponche. The mexican punch can also help when people are sick because it's warm and made of natural fruits. That's why I love drinking Ponche; it's something that is very popular to my country and it brings people together as a whole community. Where Ponche actually comes from is India then later it was spread around then the Mexicans made it more fun by adding more things to it. It's been around since 1632 and since then people have used it only during the holidays. This is one of my favorite drinks when it comes to christmas.
