My object is a decorative wooden carved plate that is used as decor to remember Poland. It came straight from Poland, you can get some in other places but mine is from Poland. It shows the eagle that is on the Polish flag, with a red circle in the background with a design around it. The plate is also polished wood which is both light and dark with the word “Polska” engraved in it which is Poland in Polish. It tells about my family from my dad's side who immigrated to America from Poland. My parents got it as a gift from my dad’s Godmother when she visited them in America from Poland in 2005. Decorative wooden plates are a prominent form of folk art in Poland that can portray national designs, holidays, and special occasions. They are used to give as gifts to family and friends. The object is important to me because it shows something from my culture and it came from where my family has been for many years.
