Pocket watch
The object I chose is a pocket watch. It is from Norway but I’m not sure where in Norway. This object was passed down to my father from his great grandfather then down to my younger sister after him. My family isn’t really the storytelling object-based kind of group, we don’t really talk about things like this often. My younger sister Alice told me about the pocket watch and a little bit of the family history that goes with it. My sister is a bit more of a question oriented type of person rather than myself. She told me about an old letter that came with it and that this watch no longer tells time. After learning about this object led me to wonder what the significance of this watch was; as in why was this particular watch so important. I also began to wonder why and how this connects to me other than it belonging to my great-great-grandfather. Unfortunately, the original owner of the pocket watch has passed on. Leaving many questions unanswered. This object is important to me because it’s a key part of my family history. It was really cool learning about the pocket watch and family.
