Plants

Relationship: Im/migrant

My story is about my grandmother and her plants. My grandmother’s name is Zorima Rodriguez .She is one of the most special women in my life. I adore this woman. I choose to write about my grandmother because she is a close family member of mine that moved away. Her plants are important to me and important to my grandmother because it reminds her of the time she lived in New York. My grandmother moved to Florida and decided to take her plants with her. She felt like it would be a good way to remember her family and all the fun she had out here in New York. “I wanted to move away and try something new... Everything was getting harder for me, I needed to change my life”. This is what my grandmother said when she explained to me and my sisters that she was leaving. She took about seven plants with her to Florida and gave me and my sisters a plant each and said, ”Take care of these for me“. We were all really sad that she decided to leave the Bronx, but we were also happy for her because we love her. Now my grandmother has a garden full of plants (Plus the seven plants she took with her) that she loves and adores and she is happy where she lives now. I wish her the best anyways and will always have a piece of my grandmother with me no matter how far she goes.
