My immigrant object is a picture of my great grandparents from my father’s side of the family. My grandmother brought these two pictures to America. When my grandmother gave me these pictures, she said to me,“ Don’t lose them because it is very important to me.” My grandmother came to America on June 1,1983. The reason why my grandmother came to America is because she wanted to have a better life in America. The first reason my grandmother brought these pictures to America is because she can keep the image of her parents to remember the good times she had in Haiti with her them. The second reason my grandmother brought these two objects to America is because she wanted to show her own kids how her parents looked. The last reason why my grandmother brought these two pictures to America was because she wanted to hold on to the feeling that her parents will always be with her as she worked hard to create a better life in America. She also didn’t bring a lot of stuff but she made sure that she brought these two objects with her. This alone makes me realize that these pictures are precious to my grandmother.My grandmother has talked to me about her parents and about the good times she has had with them. This is the reason why I think about my great grandparents a whole lot, more than the other relatives.
