This is a picture of Oakland, California. The reason this picture is so important is because my mother grew up in California. I have never been to the West coast, but have heard about California from my mom. I would one day like to visit California because I like to explore new places. I also think it looks really cool with the palm trees and big houses. 
California borders Oregon to the north, Nevada and Arizona to the east, the Mexican state of Baja California to the south; and has a coastline along the Pacific Ocean to the west.  It is the most populous and the third-largest U.S. state by area.
