Persian Cookbook
For my artifact I brought a cookbook stocked with different recipes from Iran. It has multiple different sections for different types of food. This cookbook is from the Middle Eastern country of Iran. Also a big part of Persian culture is in the food for example lavashak a sour salty sweet fruit leather the list goes on. We use it for cooking traditional Persian recipes. A common one my dad makes occasionally is kookoo sabzi. A traditional sort of pie I guess made with a lot of vegetables like spinach and lettuce. I used to hate it, but now I love it using yogurt as a traditional sauce.I chose this because I love my Persian heritage. According to a DNA test I am 51% Persian Caucasian and north african. I always loved it when we went to Persian restaurants on very very special occasions like when my grandma on my maternal side called a Mamanii. (I always call her Mamani). I love her so much!As for my ancestry it goes as far back as the Persian Empire Iran. My ancestry goes back to the Achaemenid Empire led by Cyrus, The Great. was one of the biggest empires stretching from Pakistan to Libya to Turkey stretching into three continents was eventually defeated by the rising Macedonian empire during the Roman times they were equal in power. Then a lot of events later and there is modern day Iran. A lot of the cuisines are hundreds of years old. I hope you enjoyed learning about my Persian heritage.
