When my grandma was a child, her mom made peppermint cookies at Christmas. These cookies were my grandmother's favorite. They were a special treat she got to have during the holiday season. My oma (oma means grandma in german) is a fantastic baker who made all sorts of things. She learned the recipe from her mom and made them for my mom as a child. These cookies were one of the best things she could make. When my brother was born, these cookies became his favorite too. My oma always made them for him when they visited. Now you can probably guess what happens next. Of course, they are now my favorite cookies too! Although my brother still loves the cookies, I love them the most! Anytime we visit my family in Canada, they are ready for me. If she does not have time, she ensures she has a batch of them in her freezer.
