I chose a pencil because my whole life revolves around art. My great grandmother gave me her name along with a love and appreciation for art. It gives me a way to express myself and feel comfortable. I’ve been painting, sculpting and drawing since I was around four. Of course back then it wasn't good, but I know that all art is beautiful in some way. Art ties everyone in the world together. Whether it’s singing, writing, painting, drawing, cooking, sewing or simply dreaming, you are creating art. In my case,  I've done most of it. Singing, though I don't do it anymore, reminds me of my sister. She’s been in multiple operas and will continue to do so. Writing reminds me of myself because I enjoy writing short stories. Painting and drawing remind me of my great grandmother since she had a business where she created custom wood creations and sold them. Cooking reminds me of my mother because she makes me and my siblings food no matter how difficult her daily life is. Sewing reminds me of my old gifted teacher since she loved to sow and make new objects. Dreaming reminds me of all the women and men out there who dream of a better life. So much art is created by those who dream and it's all so absolutely gorgeous. Art is truly the ultimate form of connection among people.
