Pasta with Pesto
My immigration story is based on my Italian heritage. It is going to be a recipe passed down through generations, pasta with pesto. This recipe goes all the way back to ancient Rome. The reason why I'm picking this recipe is because this is one of my favorite types of sauce.
My great grandparents came to this country from Italy and were immigrants. They made this recipe because it was filling, really good and very inexpensive. The main ingredients are olive oil, garlic and basil, and sometimes nuts or even anchovies are added for more flavor. The three main ingredients are blended together to make a nice creamy sauce. You boil pasta and as soon as it’s cooked you add the pesto sauce and sprinkle a little cheese on top for a delicious meal.
My dad makes this recipe for me and my brother and one day, I hope I can make it for my family to enjoy.
