Pandoro
The object that represents my heritage is pandoro. Pandoro is a traditional Italian dessert. It’s usually most popular around Christmas time and the New Year. You can describe pandoro as basically a sweet bread, but you can also add any toppings of your choosing. Every Christmas, my mamma bakes it for our family, sometimes my cousins and I will help her make it in the kitchen - whether it’s actually participating in making the dish or just getting the supplies for her to make it. However, you can also have it all year ‘round, obviously, because when my grandparents would come to visit the U.S all the way from Catania, Sicily, they would always cook a traditional dinner and then as a dessert they would also bake Pandoro. Overall, the dessert dish makes me think of my family and the traditions we have. I hope sometime in the near future I can learn how to make it from scratch myself.
